Thursday 30th April was a red letter day at our school as the door was left open for everyone to come and spend some time with us. The day started with a very special assembly in which the whole school community took part. Needless to say we all sang some of our well known songs, students and readers of the month got their certificates and birthdays were celebrated. Highlights were the dance that was performed by the EkoSkola Committee members, the lovely poem written by Haylee Mangion and the photostory that was prepared by Ms Christine.
Then all the parents were invited to take part in activities that form part of the Dinja Waħda Programme. Others were kept busy building bird boxes which will then be used to house birds and their nests. After a short break for refreshments, all parents went into the classrooms were literacy sessions were held followed by hands on activities related, once again, to the Dinja Waħda Programme. Special guests from EkoSkola and from Birdlife were present for this activity. It goes without saying that this was another enjoyable learning experience at our school.
Our school foyer on this special day
As part of our home work during the Easter Holidays, we were asked to write short paragraphs about our perception of God. The topic was not that easy to tackle but with the help of our Religious Knowledge teacher, Ms. Rita Aquilina, we managed to put pen to paper and come up with some ideas.
Some of us wrote about God the Father, the One who created Heaven and Earth. Others chose to write about God the Son, the One who was born in Bethlehem and died for us on the cross. A few wrote about God the Spirit who still guides us today. All our works were then put on display on one of the boards at our school. Some chosen ones were sent to participate in the Versus Project: Of God and Man, which is scheduled for next November at the Mdina Cathedral.

The Dinja Waħda Newletter for the month of March is out and you can view it here. Once again this newsletter features a number of success stories in schools that carry out the Dinja Waħda Program. The message from the Dinja Waħda team has one basic message which is loud and clear: We owe our children a positive environment and each and every one of us in his/her own little doings can help to stop destroying what’s been given to us and actually do something about the environment to make it a better place! Let’s heal our world together!
Following the recent acquisition of the book donation from the Malta National Book Council, the acquisition of books given by some parents and our school’s continuous investment in books, all the teachers were encouraged to give a face lift to their class libraries. This initiative was taken to have class libraries which are more attractive to children and invite them to take a book and read. The importance of reading is never stressed enough and it is only through reading that our students acquire more knowledge, get better possession of the language, learn new vocabulary and broaden their literacy horizons. Apart from this they will start enjoying the fun of having a book as a friend. Thank you and well done to one and all.
X’ġurnata ħargitilna għall-ħarġa tat-tfal lejn il-Manikata!
Aħna u sejrin it-tfal kienu eċitati u bdew josservaw kull ma kien hemm fit-triq mill-Furjana sa ma waslu l-Manikata.
Hemmhekk ġejna milqugħa minn Veronica u l-kelb Bo.
Imxejna lejn ir-razzett u waqafna naraw il-fjuri differenti b’kuluri ta’ kull lewn. L-aktar komuni kienu l-papoċċi, il-lellux u l-peprin ħomor u vjola. Imxejna ftit ieħor u xi tfal raw żrinġ jaqbeż quddiemhom. Bqajna mexjin u morna nitimgħu it-tiġieġ u anke sibna l-bajd li kienu għadhom kif biedu.
Tmajna ukoll lill-papri u lin-nagħaġ. Imxejn ftit aktar u morna ġo razzett ieħor. Ħemmhekk, rajna lil Ġorġ il-ħmar u familja ta’ mogħoż.
Qabadna l-ġuħ u poġġejna fuq bankijiet apposta taħt is-siġar fejn it-tfal kielu ħobż frisk tal-malti bil-kunserva u frawli li kien għadu kif gie maqtugħ mill-għelieqi tal-madwar.
Kien fadal ftit ħin biex immorru lura lejn ix-xarabank u għalhekk, it-tfal ġrew u lagħbu qalb il-fjuri u s-siġar. Ftit minnhom qabdu zkuk u qagħdu ‘jiktbu’ ġol ħamrija, ftit minnhom lagħbu ġod-dar fuq is-siġra.
Insomma, kienet ġurnata mill-isbaħ li t-tfal ma tantx ser jinsew malajr!
